A couple days ago I had the honor to work with a repeat client of mine who lives in New Bedford. Her daughter Alaina had recently turned 2 and she wanted to get her photos updated.
A few days prior we both saw that there was a huge storm heading their way, but we decided to do the photos indoors with an outdoors location as a backup just in case. The weatherman is wrong sometimes, right?
Unfortunately he wasn't wrong this time, but luckily we decided to meet at Seamen's Bethel in New Bedford and they were kind enough to let us take photos there. I arrived a little earlier to scope out the place and also to enjoy some of the history found there. There was way too much rain coming down to explore, but I will definitely go back sometime and explore this historic part of New Bedford.
Alaina and her family showed up and we headed upstairs to get some photos. The first thing I noticed was how big Alaina had gotten since the last time I had seen her. She was full of energy and I loved her facial expressions. I knew it'd be a fun session.
This is right at the beginning where she's checking me out and wondering what I'm up to.
We were getting some nice window light in this room.
Once we finished taking photos indoors we headed outside. Alaina saw that it was still raining hard and we could tell she wanted to play. So having gotten most of the photos we wanted we let her run around for a bit and I got busy getting some fun candids.
We were all delighted to see her having so much fun running around. At that age it can't be much fun having to sit one place for very long. This is her in action.
In this one she's looking at mommy and showing her joy of being outside in the rain.
I really like this photo and expression. I almost feel like she's saying , " Mom, how come we didn't think of doing this before?"
I had a great time photographing Alaina and her family. And I'm also very interested in meeting the new addition to the family in the next few months!
