In 2012 I did a wedding as a second photographer and was tasked to get some getting ready photos. Everyone was very nice and when I arrived they were all enjoying some beers and sharing some old war stories, typical guys. But, I could tell everyone had been friends for years and years. Then it was time to get the suits on etc and as many of us know it takes guys only about 5 minutes to get dressed. So, I took some photos here and there, but I always kept an eye on the groom trying to anticipate a good photo.
As everyone was busy getting ready in one room he had gone off the the other room where his dad was. I saw that they were talking, but was also getting some assistance with his bow tie. I stood by the doorway with a longer lens and tried to be invisible as I didn't want to interrupt this moment. I took a few photos, but these two really tell the story.
I especially like this one as dad is looking at his son all grown up and the son has the look like he's ready to take on the world.
Did I mention I love weddings?
