A couple days ago I visited the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in anticipation of Spring. I knew that it wasn't in full bloom yet, but I had seen via Facebook that a few flowers had started to come up. Having a season pass I decided to visit again. I visit pretty regularly as there are indoor gardens as well as outdoors so there is always something to see and they are open year round.
Usually on my visits I practice my macro photography and do a lot of detail type photos. This time around I wanted to take in more scenic type photos.
This is in the lower part where there is a grassy area and a fountain. As they do many functions here I would assume some outdoor cocktail hr could be held here. Above is where the ceremony would take place.
This is a shot from the side. In another few weeks this whole area will be covered with flowers of all kinds. I can't wait.
Along the path I saw these flowers. Sorry, I couldn't resist a closeup.
This is the area above. You can see where the wedding ceremony could be held and all the space available for even a really large wedding.
Heading up the path a little you can see this tree and a small garden around it.
Walking further you see this red shed and their vegetable garden. In full bloom this area is filled with all kinds of vegetables with narrow walkways to walk around. I enjoy coming by every year to see what they're growing. If I remember correctly a lot of the harvest ends up being donated.
Getting back on the path you reach the main building. This is where the reception area is, the store, TWIGS (the restaurant) and the classrooms. Off of this building are the Orangerie and the Lemon house which are indoors gardens.
There were doing a kid's story time in the Lemon House so I didn't want to interrupt them. So, I walked over to the Orangerie.
Its impressive how many plants they put in these rooms without making it look a mess. And every season they mix it up as well. Both of these rooms are used for wedding receptions during wedding season. So sometimes if you visit you'll find a lot of these plants outside basking in the sun.
This is a photo from the back garden facing the Orangerie.
This is a slightly wider shot where you can see the layout of this outdoor garden.
As you can see the daffodils were in full bloom!
Since my visit to Tower Hill we've had a lot of rain so I'm hoping that helped to boost some growth. This is easily one of my favorite places to go and will continue to visit regularly. There is so much to see outside and inside. And, as the weather gets nicer they start having more and more events for families. Please visit their site here.
