Yesterday, a few us decided to head out to Providence and do a photo walk. The day started out very cloudy threatening to rain, but it didn't end up raining until we were long gone. We started at the Providence Place Mall by the canal and then made our way around. My last trip into Providence was almost a full yr ago so I was happy to be able to wander the streets.
This photo is just about the first photo I took. I was standing at street level looking down at the canal with my back to the Providence Place Mall. This is more of a skyline photo. You'll get to see more of the canal in a later photo.
This is a few blocks away as we start our walk.
This is the short building you see to the far right of the previous photo.
This is a couple blocks further down the street looking back. You can see the Biltmore building in the distance which is an easy landmark in this part of the city.
We continued our journey up some streets. I was told there were some famous hotdog carts up a head so we continued on to find them. This store front stood out to me.
This is one of the two meal trucks. Seems these are very popular. I tried the Knot Dog and I have to say, It was really good!
This is the second food truck. As you can probably tell they serve all kinds of tacos in this one. Initially we all wanted some nice Tacos, but the line was quite long. I'm going to have to remember for next time!
Having some good food in us we continued to walk along. I was told this was the first mall in the United States. So naturally I had to take a photo. There are some boutiques in there now, but I really liked the architecture.
A lot of the buildings in this area were just amazing. I could have sat and captured all of them, but I was also interested in seeing what else was around the next corner. This area is about two blocks away from the canal, but not from where we had started.
I was told we were in the financial district. Which made sense are there were multiple banks and firms along the way.
Its interesting seeing such an old building right next to a very modern one. I thought this perspective was quite cool.
The other guys stopped to grab some coffee so I just looked around. On the side of the building behind me I saw this. I think it acts as a water fountain, but I'm not sure. It just caught my eye.
On the other side of the intersection was this awesome building. To get a sense of how large the sculpture is compare it to the size of the car below.
This is a photo taken from below. Just wonderful architecture.
We continued walking and met with the canal again. This is looking back towards the mall. But, we continued on up the hill.
I found this alley pretty interesting.
This is what some of the houses looked like in this area.
This is a small patio in-between houses. I thought it was interesting with the canoe there.
After this we ended up looping back towards the canal.
I walked up the steps to the left of the previous photo turned around and saw this!
I took this photo as its really nice to see things blooming. This was to the left of where I was standing for the previous photo.
Behind this area there is a field where you tend to find people walking their dogs and is also used for city events throughout the year. So I took a photo of the mall on the right and some of the prominent buildings in the area.
Directly opposite to the mall you can see these office buildings.
This is a photo of the Rhode Island State House.
I really enjoyed visiting Providence again. Every time I visit I feel well taken care of and discover new places. One of my photographer friends lives there and says he'd like to meet up again next month. He says he has other areas to walk. I'm all for it!
