This past Sunday I had the pleasure of attending VegFest in Worcester, MA held at the DCU center. To be honest I had never heard of it before, but through my friend Mike I found that it was the place to be. He told me that it was a large Expo with a lot of vendors, spokes people, and great food. I also found out that he had rented a vendor table and that his sister was one of the main organizers of the event. Nothing like "backstage passes" per se with camera in hand. So I helped Mike setup and I was tasked with walking around and taking some photos of the event for their Facebook fan page.
Given the opportunity to take some photos of course I agreed and spent most of the day walking around, eating some great food and talking with vendors.
This is the DCU center. Usually its a pretty busy intersection, but around 9am on a Sunday you can get nice shots like this one.
This is Mike getting his table setup. From what I saw his table was a big hit and he was able to get a lot of fun portraits with his fruits and vegetables. If you were at the event you probably saw him shooting away with his big camera.
This is the area near the back of the room where the speakers would present.
So while people were still setting up I started to make my way around the room and say hi to people.
This is the entry area to the main room.
I was also sporting one of these white shirts. I felt pretty official I must admit.
It was pretty crowded at this point and I felt bad I couldn't fit their logo in the photo. www.compassionco.com
This was the first guest speaker of the day.
This was story time for the younger expo visitors. They did a couple of these throughout the day.
This was one of the other guest speakers. She prepared a meal on stage!
I'm not really a sweets eater, but when I saw this display I knew I had to have one.
Here's a photo of the cupcake I was about to enjoy.
I then headed upstairs to get a few quick photos.
I headed back down and continued to walk around.
I had seen her walking around earlier and knew I had to get her photo.
At this point the final speaker was wrapping up and I was starting to get tired as well. So I headed back to Mike's table and helped him out a bit. Actually I headed off to get some food and some coconut water. But, things were starting to wind down.
Then, as quick as it had begun, it was over and we were all packing up our things.
The event went really well and I know that Mike had a good time. He was taking portraits left and right and had people holding all kinds of fruit. I enjoyed a variety of cuisine, talked a with a lot of people, got ideas on how to work at an event and learned a lot on what to expect for next year. I'm definitely interested in renting my own table at this and/or other events in the future.
Some of these photos and others will appear in a week or so on the official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/vegworcester so feel free to head there to view more photos!
