This past weekend I was also able to take photos of my other cousin and her family as well.
With all the leaves on the trees changing it just felt like the right time to go out and take some photos. Her daughters are super fun always running around happy. We looked for a few good spots for photos and also enjoyed the great weather.
Please enjoy some of the previews from the session.
This past weekend I had the privilege of photographing my cousin and his family. We've done several sessions now as their son keeps getting bigger and bigger.
This time we decided to take photos in West Boylston near the Old Stone Church. A few weeks earlier I had found a nice spot and it just ended up working really well for us.
These are some previews!
These last couple years I have spent so much time online doing research, viewing tutorials, marketing sites, business sites and getting involved in some forums. Also, I've found a lot of blog style sites that offer great information, but also allow the viewer to interact and get some of their questions answered.
Its amazing to see how many people have an interest in photography. It really has boomed beyond the niche market and it is getting easier every year to get a starter camera and just go out and practice.
But, once you take some nice photos where do you go from there? Do you want others to see them? Do you think they might sell if you do? Or, are you interested in photographing people and major life events?
You can get overwhelmed pretty easily or you can decide to become a jack of all trades.
As soon as the business side of things becomes a priority it completely changes everything. You need to pay attention to marketing, online presence, pricing, customer service and most of all your bottom line.
But, how do you sort through all the blogs and all the other photographers out there?
Honestly you just find your own way. Some sites and some instruction works for some and not for others.
Luckily there is tons of information out there.
I compiled this list of some of the sites that have really helped me: ( I am not endorsed by any of them)
1. www.photographylife.com - Fantastic blog type site where they talk about the technical, products, reviews and a more. This site gets tons of views so if you leave a comment you'll be sure to get a response.
2. www.mcpactions.com - This site focus on actions and presets to help with editing, but also have a very active blog with everything for beginners and experienced photographers. Blog posts are posted pretty much daily.
3. digital-photography-school.com - This is exactly what you think it is. Tons of tutorials on how to start, improve and master your photography. Very active blog and forums on here. Great source of information and countless articles.
4. www.creativelive.com - In my mind this site has revolutionized the online classrooms of photography. This is a live course that is filmed and aired on their website. Course can also be purchased to view at your leisure. They take the top names in the photography industry and they do several day classes with a live audience as well as the online audience. You get to learn from the best. Has instantly been a success. If you've ever heard of WPPI or other major photography based conventions that are hosted around the world, these are the same people doing the instructing. Amazing, and a must watch. If you are more of a visual/hearing learner this is for you.
5.www.themoderntog.com - This is also a blog based website where article upon article come out with super helpful information. They cover many common topics, but also are great about replying to your feedback.
These are my most visited, although I do occasionally find information on a couple other sites.
Honestly, back in the day I would visit about 20 different sites and would constantly be jumping around to find information. The sites I have listed cover about 70% or more of what you are looking for on their sites alone!
I have spent countless hours going back and forth through their history of posts to find the information I'm looking for.
So if you're starting out or aren't quite where you'd like to be check out a few of these sites.
My goal is to be able to provide similar kinds of content on my website.
So any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
A couple weeks ago I ran a special for some headshot portraits.
This is one of the photos I got from the session.
