Yesterday I decided to head out with the fuji X100s. Its a camera with a fixed lens and many view it as the perfect street photography/walk around camera. It is older then the x-e2 I already own, but I was excited to head out with it. It was very sunny out and warm as well so it was fun walking around and not freezing for once. So I called up Mike and he decided to join me.
We parked at a parking lot near Union Station, where we had photographed the other day. We took a few photos from the top of the garage and then started walking towards main st.
This next photo is facing downtown and you can see Union Station and some of the more prominent buildings downtown.
Mike was curious about checking out the x100s so I had him take a photo of me. He was shooting into the sun so we tried to use the camera's flash and see what we could get. Not amazing at all, but a little more power and it almost works.
So we then left the garage and started going up the street.
In the previous photo you can see a couple cars near the middle of the image. These cars are coming though a tunnel that goes under the railroad tracks and takes you to one of the main streets.
As we were entering the tunnel I saw this guy biking so I tried to see if I could get him in motion. Came out ok, but it was particularly bright there in direct sunlight.
In the tunnel Mike stopped to take some photos of me and in return I took a few of him as well. The lighting was interesting and there were a lot of textures. But then cars started splashing a little so it was time to keep walking.
On the other side of the tunnel we reached the main st and the Union Station bus stop. This whole area is only about 1yr old.
We then made it to Front st where there are a lot of businesses and also a lot more people walking about. I took this photo to see how the camera would capture the sky and the building details. Not bad at all.
We walked around looking at the different buildings.
Here's the back entrance to City Hall.
And then I turned around and saw this!
So overall it was a pretty good excursion. We passed a lot of characters along the way and I was a little bummed about all the large clusters of snow still on the ground. Only another month or so of this kind of weather and we'll be able to enjoy some snow free walking about.
Thoughts: I enjoyed using this small camera. It was super quiet, and was a trooper. At times I wished I had a different lens, but overall it worked really well. I'm still trying it out for a couple more days to see if it will become part of my permanent kit.
